What are some good Oldsmobile 350 heads? Where are the numbers to find out what kind of heads do you have?

4,5,and 6 are heads were used in high compression motors. 5 and 6 heads with 2" intake and 1.63" exhaust were used in Ram Rod 350 and W-31 motors. The 4 head is a small chamber 330 head that is a nice casting.

I'm putting a set of 4's on my 350, getting 403 valves put in them.

ID numbers are located on the left side of the head above the exhaust port. I would aslo be lookin for 5 or 6 heads, make sure they are not 5A or 6A. The 5A and 6A heads are for a 307 and are no good for a 350. Good luck.

7 and the 350 7A heads were alright as well. The 7's got the big valves and had small combustion chambers.

If you go for the 7A heads make sure its from a 350 and make sure the A is the subscript A, should be smaller in size than the 7 and slightly lower. If it is the same size and is same level as 7 it is the swirl ports from late 80's 307's which you definitly don't want. Here is a little info on the Olds heads for reference

Where did you get this information from? The 7 and 7a heads are practically identical. In fact the 5,6,7, and 7a heads were all pretty much the same except for the 5 heads on the W31 350's which had bigger valves.

Ok now I think I am confused. 7 heads come off an 307 and they are not no good? I think that I have 7 heads so do I need to get rid of them? Does someboby have a picture of where I would see the number if the motor is still together?

What they are talking about is how the 7A is stamped on the head. On the 307 heads it is gonna look just like I am typing it, 7A. On the 350 heads the A will be lower than the 7. Kind of like how a fraction of measurement is written 7/A but like I said the A will be lower. Heres a pic of the number location. I took this pic from a car domain website.

If you have the 307 7A heads then ya you don't want to use them. 7A 350 heads are good.
