In effort to improve the look of the filler tube on olds engines in general, i decided to shorten one to see how it looks. What I did was grab another tube from the junkyard, cut out about a 4" section out of the middle, welded it back together ground down the weld and smoothed it out with some bondo. I think it loks significantly better, personally. Heres the pics 8)

Just realized the difference in the length of the part of the tube that is actually inserted in the block itself. I guess there are different size tubes...

i like it but im not sure how the bondo will hold up

Now just rid of that hideous lookin top radiator hose

I hate to tell you this but there are stock tubes about the same lenght as the one you just fabbed up. I've never seen one that long before...
It looks like you had a filler tube from a BBO on your 350 to start with???
What year was your block?

I've only seen the longer ones. I have one on my current 350, another on a 455 block, and another on a shelf.

It should hold up great. Someone repaired my timing cover with bondo, it seems to have held up fine

touche' ^^

I just snagged the big tube at the junkyard right after I got the motor... not sure what it is off of, but my block is a early 70's. Have any pics of the short factory pieces? just curious.
