Olds oil filler tube mod.

I had my tube taken out and a freeze plug in its place.cleans the engine up.I just fill my oil through the valve cover.

Why? That fill tube is great! It's like a built in funnel.
 
Must be an optical illusion with the longer skinnier lower portion that makes it look longer.
I'd need to buy one to verify the diameter but I think I just discovered an alternative to modification by using one from a 68-69 Chevy Crossram setup, they are available through Year One and other suppliers that carry GM licensed reproduction

I'd do the same... if I had an Olds engine.

You Chevy guys... :lol:

I know other Olds guys that do the same thing but honestly don't know why. The Olds oil fill tube just makes it that much easier to add oil to the engine.

As far as the shorter tube, looks good. I did the same thing with mine. Used my large tubing cutter but only took out about 1.5" or so.
 
Some people will modify things just for the sake of modifying things. I think it must be a disease or something.... :mrgreen:

I like the to remove the filler tube I think it looks cleaner. I like the early T stat housing with the all rubbber by pass hose. Factory style rad hoses look the best I think.
