Stop the ‘changing of the plan’.
I was kidding about the turbo. Big power is way easier than going fast.
If you can get it to turn a 1000hp time slip, then you’ll know the next step. I’m struggling with what I have and that about 4 sizes smaller if turbo.
You are correct, I am not changing anything else, except maybe the diff housing to my QP housing so I can have adjustable lower mount holes.

If I can't properly scare myself with this setup I should probably take up knitting or something.

I head out of the Socialist Paradise right after Hurrican Elsa comes and gives us a good working over....

Good times!

I have those rockers shafts as well, if you really want to make it even better grab a set of their new rockers too. It will let you spin even more higher and still be very stable.

Looking good man.

Now that I have made it home, I had some goodies show up the morning after my return.

The BTR shaft rocker mounts and rockers came in, Between getting unpacked and catching up on whats been going on in the real world I managed to put the rockers together.

Quick comparison of the BTR rockers and the stockers.

Small update, as I ramp up to getting things crossed off the list.

I started getting the rocker shafts put in the motor, and I discovered that there was a slight burr from the chamfer process in the main bolt holes on the rocker mounts.

It was making it really tough to get some of the bolts through, some would not even go through.

I think it ended up being 5 of the individual rocker shafts that needed some "fine clearance work". It wasn't difficult or needed much work but the rocker shaft material is HARD, like pretty much as hard or harder than my files so it took a while.

I even read the instructions on torque specs, followed to a T, and they look pretty sexy when installed.

I carried on down the lost and installed the fancy Iriduim plugs for street and testing use. Gapped to 0.025", as these will be more for under 15psi and regular driving. Yes, they are TR7 heat range. ;)

I put the valve covers back on and installed plug wires. #8 is a giant pain in the butt. Its gonna get extra fuel and a couple degrees less timing I think.

I went to install the 160 degree thermostat, and discovered the installed water pump t-stat housing is the old style.... I was lucky though, my spare (from the 4.8) did have the post 2003 housing so its gonna work out.

20210720_121440.jpg

I then discovered the Summit brand thermostat was about 0.05" larger in diameter than the stock one and would not fit. SO..... It was grinder and flap disc clearanced to fit and installed. (Stock 186f on the left)

Somehow I found the time to fix the BBQ, chiseling out rotting wet pellets and replacing a blow fuse.... Thank god, as I needed to meal prep.

Those rocker assemblies do look nice! Surprised it took this long for something like that to come out. Are they captured needle roller or bushed?

I agree, seems like a pretty simple design especially considering the rockers have a removable pedestal. It is captured needle bearing design, allegedly "gen 2" design.

For the cost of that rocker setup you'd think it would be top notch. Did you let Comp know about the issues?
Edit. Good job 👏 👍 btw

They are Brian Tooley Racing rocker shafts, plus I wasn't really upset about the burr. It was almost invisible to the eye, and didn't effect any important clearance. I am in the custom realm with this build, so accepting small imperfections on fit and correcting them will keep me from going crazy.

I haven't let them know, I have been debating it.
