Everyone in the Olds world has different clearance ideas. Having a Halo and lighter KB pistons helps. Smitty got .002 rods and .0025 mains ground into the crank. I wouldn't go over .003" for clearance. The SBO doesn't have near as many bottom end issues as the 455, although my 403 had .010" rod bearings in it. The stock pistons are very heavy, KB's should be a few grams lighter. Most will say regular volume with a stock replacement pan.I'd set the bearings a little loose and go high volume. But that's just me. I don't know how hard you'll be revving it.
