hi .i had posted trans not shifting 1st to 2nd gear on forum .i pushed it to hard now engines clacking loud. i drained oil and no metal shavings there.pulled valve cover and the push rods seem very loose.the engine was rebuilt no many miles on it 6000/7000.any thoughts thanks.

Where is the noise coming from?
If it's clacking then that sounds like a spun bearing to me, push rods will be fairly obvious coming from the top of the engine.

hi.i pulled valve covers and had 4 bent pushrods and 3 broke pivets on rocker arms .put everything together still have clatter .took out plug looked lke metal shavings and wet looking .need motor can get one for a 1000 rebuit if anyone in maryland has 350 lrt me know.thanks.

olds motors shouldnt be revved as high as 6000 IMO. They have lubrication problems and the newer cast v8s of the late 70s and 80s made them weaker because GM shaved a portion of iron away where the main caps sit. Anyway, I have a 350 olds motor for $150 in PA if you're interested, needs to be rebuilt though.
