Getting ready to order my new gas tank. It comes powder coated silver but I'm thinking the silver may stick out like a sore thumb, could be wrong. What did you do? Leave them silver or paint them black? Pictures would be great!!! Thanks in advance!

I just did this a couple weeks ago. I used rubberized undercoating, then painted semi gloss black so it will disappear....

Silver doesnt look bad. I sprayed the tank for my 81 and it looks fine. I also switched to a 2 line sending unit. Feed, vent. No return.

My Regal's came silver but I painted it black so it blends in with the rear of the car which is now black.

The one in my cutlass is done in silver, in my opinion it looks good, kind of gives a hint that work has been done under the car and a little bright note. Its all in personal preferences really. If you want it to show leave it silver, if you want it to hide under the car go black

I was at a Pontiac convention back in the 1980's and a former Pontiac factory engineer at a seminar said they tested dark and light finishes and found that dark finishes on a fuel tank absorbs alot of heat from the roadway and can contribute to vapor lock.
