Hi

I have an 1980 el camino 229 v6. I have an oil leak from my steering box, it comes from the shaft. My steering box dosent have the 4 bolt top cover. I have ordered a seal kit SUNSONG 8401242, supposed to be for that aplication but the seals and washer are bigger than mine. Mine is 41.500mm outside diameter and the one tha came is 44.5mm.
the inside diameter is ok 1.25.
Anybody knows the correct part number for the seals?
thank you

If you don't have the 800 series p/s box, you won't see 4 bolts. If you have the smaller round side cover (actually top cover looking at it), then you have what they call a 605 box.

77-81 A-body with 605 box uses GM p/n 7838143 seal kit (or equivalent) for the pitman arm according to the parts information. I can't guarantee sizes or anything, but that's the part number it shows.

Here's a kit for about 12 bucks on ebay.

If you upgrade to an 800, you'll need an 800 series pitman arm. Just sayin'.
