Reading this ongoing thread reminded me of something I've seen before. There is a company out there called Performance Unlimited that will build you a reliable 300-325hp Olds 307. Obviously it's a little pricey, but about $6000 for a turn-key crate motor isn't unheard of. http://www.proformanceunlimited.com/spe ... _400HP.htm

Someone correct me if Im wrong. But I remember reading. That was bulls***. I could be wrong. It was awhile ago

There a reputatable company, look up Performance Unlimited on you tube, they have customer reviews and all...

I have a 200 horse 307 for sale if any of yous decide to hotrod one.Good platform already, its been bored .40 over and has the 7a heads that have been ported and port matched.$200 takes it.

Well you have to start somewhere. My first hot rodding efforts were on a 283. 'Cus it was what I had. I'm sure the "307" movement here is a bit of the same. You can always learn something, even if it doesn't seem like much to others. I'm curious to see how they do myself.

okie doke time to jumpstart this thread again. i recently unbolted my engine and took off the starter to find a remanufacture card stating that my 307 was bored over to make it a 313. sweet balls. also i found another 307 vin 9 with 5a heads for 150 bucks.

Ok everyone has to lay off this guy he's just doing what no one here has the balls to do. Hes taking a quote unquote worthless engine and trying to make power out of it. There's nothing wrong with that! Think about it for decades guys said just yank that 350 or 403 out and drop in a small block Chevy, how many people are running 403's now? That goes for just about every Olds motor how many times have any of you heard that you cant make power with an Olds? Sure its great laughing at the dumb *ss who said it. Especially when you smoke his built to the balls 400 chevy with your mildly built "worthless" 455. So all this guy is doing is going against the common theory that you need a large motor to go fast, just like you went against the theory that you cant make power with an Olds. Which we all know is bs because Olds motors are reliable as hell and make great power. So if anything you should be supporting the dude because maybe he'll figure out something we didn't maybe he'll break 200hp or figure out a way to get power out of this thing. 403's 425's and 455's aren't exactly a dime a dozen anymore and we need to start looking at ways to make the b*st*rd child motors make power. So as far as I am concerned a engine is an engine and if you get more fuel and air in it and more exhaust out of it you'll make more power. If the 80's roller engines came with 180 hp why cant he make 200 with a ton of work it seems absolutely reasonable. Id like to see him make more just to piss everyone who said he couldn't do it off. With a lot of head work, a free flowing intake and exhaust, a properly tuned carb and distributor, over bore, more compression, and a good cam there's no reason he cant make at least 200hp. Hes not aiming for the 400 range he was looking to get 200.

You must not have read the posts. Nobody said it can't be done in fact its has been done several times. What is said in a nutshell is its not cost effective nor does it provide any significant advantage over a 350/403. Basically his time & money would be better spent elsewhere to get better results for less.
