Well Photobucket can go suck it now since you have to pay for it.

So what else is out there that's free?

Well, we still have direct post here. Not sure yet what'll happen to older threads with PB images. I'm sure that their terms of use legally allows them to do whatever they want but in the court of public opinion this can only go badly for them. It may likely finish them off for good.
If all the PB pics disappear until ransom is paid there's going to be a lot of boring threads here for awhile. All my pics are still on my computers so I can sift through threads and edit accordingly but it'd be a huge hassle.

hm, that's too bad. so far it looks like nothing's affected. I went to their site and can't find any useful info on what will happen in the future though.... will let you know if/when I see the image proxy** log explode with errors

** GBF uses XenForo's "image proxy" so when it comes across 3rd party hosted images, it grabs them once, then hosts them from GBF's servers for a time, until they "expire" then will grab them again if needed.

hm... was this a newly uploaded pic? because if I put that in the [ img ] tags nothing happens. yet I still see the image proxy loading pix just fine, maybe older ones I dunno.

Yeah just read up on the changes and that's pretty stupid. It's going to make a metric crap-load of threads on this site and sites all over the web full of big red X's instead of useful images. Not sure what to say, really. I am away from GBF HQ at the moment and can probably sit down tonight or the next few days and research this some more. Need to see what other forum admins have to say about it. Still curious why some images appear to be working (maybe those users have some level of upgrade I dunno) and some do not. And why there are no errors indicating that....

Stay tuned, I'm sure this will get real interesting real quick.

If I use the BBCode link from the page you link to... I get this:

So you were linking to the page and not the image... so I guess its still working for now. Or they reverted back, who knows. Still need to see what's going to happen with this.
