My 88 has never cooled well. I fixed the director flap below the crossmember. I need to get max air flow through the rad. It wouldn't call 205 a good temp on a 21 degree Celsius day. If I would have pushed 110 km/hr probably would have seen 215. This is a recored and cleaned up 34" wide A body 2 core Copper/Brass rad. A pic or part number would be helpful. I would like my 350 to run 200 max.

Below is the Champion aluminum radiator I use. It’s 2 row but there are two 1” tubes. Runs 171 on the highway regardless or ambient temp.

180 in stoplight traffic and Wide Open Throttle pulls on hot days.

200-210 idling for extended periods with air on.

Cools down quick. Keep in mind I have a different motor, electric fans, single turbo and my 3.5” wrapped exhaust runs right behind the radiator and in front of my drive pulleys. Tons of heat close to my radiator.

Champion Cooling Systems, 2 Row with 2- 1" Tubes All Aluminum Replacement Radiator (26"Core)

I have had multiple rads and fans in this car. Current is the big 2 core Copper Brass rad with Dodge Stratus fans on low. It never went above 195 in my 70 Cutlass, usually 170-180, no shroud and 4 blade fixed fan. The main issue is the highway temperature, should never go 215 with a 260. The 3 core Champion was so so at best with the 403, 185 with a 160 Robert Shaw thermostat, 230+ towing, even after dumping the underdrive pulleys. The no name aluminum 2 core with 1" tubes did well till the Mr Gasket no flow err I mean high flow thermostat started acting up a very short time in. Then it started leaking between thr cores, stop leak killed it's cooling was 235 after a short drive with 9.6 to 1 Olds 350. I agree on the large 2 core with 1" tubes or bigger being the best. I also tried a 5 and 7 blade fan with a new clutch and shroud. Been there and tried nearly everything.
