If I were to listen to really loud music I would probably loose the ability to adjust rocker arms by sound on a hydraulic roller cammed SBC with headers while running.

The word eccentric only works if you are rich, other wise it's called nuts!

Don't need the world to hear my music.

I really cant stand the morons that make me listen to what they are listening to when Im sitting in my car with the windows up.

Or even worse when I am sitting in my house or yard trying to enjoy the little bit of piece and quite I rarely have.

I just want something I can enjoy

Some of us just don't put huge stereos in everything. I have a $30 Ebay Aux input and FM stereo in the 88. It is 60 watts and 3 speakers and remote. One cheap Amazon 4×10 in the back and 2 Amazon cheapest 3.5" speakers, 40 watts each I believe. One of the Walmart Scosche 25 watts 3.5" speakers was distorting after 10 years. Overall not bad, just loud enough on auxiliary input. Our local radio stations are horrible from Yorkton, Sk. I hated dance music when I was younger, hasn't gotten better. We are just out of radio range of Regina, Sk. We can just pick up Prince Albert's 750 am, basically our playlist plus a couple of extras but this FM only. How can you tell we are a British Commonwealth country? Two of the three cities I mentioned are named after Royalty. I did have a terrible sounding NIB twin post Radioshack cassette player, took it out. Pretty sure it was stolen along with the freightliner factory Cassette player I was going to install. The 70S has a 50×4 Pioneer CD player with two 4" Boss 60w and 2 Alpine 6×9 120w? with a cheap home stereo sub. I also have a replacement 4×10, the match to the other one in the 88. A bit too big in the dash and distorts under any volume. I also have a Pioneer 6" tied into this 2000ish GM Delco cassette player for free, yes two independent stereo systems. I also put an auxiliary input into the Pioneer CD player with an FM modulator, works really well. So AM/FM Cassette, CD with Aux input in my 70S. My 2000 Dakota has the best Cassette player I have seen. It has next track selection like a CD player and decent sound. Plus it has the factory FM modulator 6 disc CD changer under the seat. Really a weird optioned truck, no power windows or locks but the upgraded stereo.

Its been a long time since I bought speakers.

I used to run pioneer 3 way 6x9's in the rear deck

They were great 20+ years ago

Are they still good?

NOT looking for super bass stuff just a nice clear sound.

NOT running an amp

I have the adapters for the 4x10 to 6x9;s already

I was alway told the 4x10's were worth getting, is that still true?

Thanks
6x9's generally produce more bass (more area) than 4x10's. Most 2,3 & 4 way speakers produce to many high frequencies for my taste. Listen & compare before you buy.

Aftermarket speakers are great IF YOU'RE USING AN AFTERMARKET RADIO. The reason I highlighted that is factory speakers are 10 ohm while aftermarkets to my knowledge are 4 ohm. I switched out my factory speakers years ago but kept the GM radio & always wondered why the radio got so warm.
Only years later while reading an e-bay ad for Delco coax 4x10 did I find out why. The amp difference was overheating the radio amp. Soooo I learned the hard way (what else is new?) if you want to do this I say stick with factory all the way or aftermarket all the way. Think I may have ruined a few radio amps along the way not knowing.

I have Sony 3-way 6x9s for the rear & Infinity 3 1/2 " for the front along with an Audiovox cd-cassette combo din-1 size wired for my '80s GM plug & play for sale. May need a harness pin adaptor if yours is 12 or 21 pin. Take $150 for the whole business.

Though I acknowledge to anyone that I am clearly nuts (just look at my NOT build thread), I am an audiophile nut period. Always have been. But play guitar and sax too just for fun always in search of better tone. As I said, I don’t buzz bumpers nor crank music so I can share it with the world. You WILL hear it when you’re in my rides though. Not to destroy eardrums and cause pain. The 900W (total) to a total of 13 speakers (cones plus tweets plus sub) just makes the speakers perform as advertised. Not indifferent from the right powertrain for whatever you are trying to do with the car. It’s about efficiency and crystal clear music you can feel if you choose.

For the record, swapping my rears to Pioneer 6x9s off the ‘87 factory head did nothing to improve the sound in my 442. Adding just a 60W per amp in back, line input which is NOT ideal (just easy), woke them up a bit though. (y)
