i am getting ready to put my buddies 327 together and had a question. can i swap pistons from rods at home or do i need to have the machine shop doing it for me. i have seen tools on ebay but not sure how they work. i have a press....
I would not try to do it at home. The method is basically this: Heat the small end of the rod enough that it expands and then slide out the old pin and slide in the new one on the new piston. If you are planning to have the rods resized, just have it done at that time. If you overheat them, you could weaken them.
