Pondering how many are left..

Searching craigslist every day, I see car after car (gbodies of course) that are being parted out, crashed etc.

Makes me wonder how many are really out there anymore of the 442's, Monte SS's.

Out of what, 3500 or so 442's for a given year, which is actually quite a few, how many could be left after 30 years?

I know there have to be over 1500-2000 somewhere around that number, or at least one would think.

They're bound to run out someday. Someone always wonders. The point to remember is that if you want one, you need to go find one and enjoy it. Sure there's probably only X amount of 442s left etc., but pontiacgp accidentally brings up something very relevant. The number of days left in our lives to enjoy. Cars come and go. Just enjoy them while they're here. They'll provide plenty of opportunities to be sad when they break, so don't go looking for more reasons.

No negative implications here. Just wanted to put the idea out there. Ever since my last fender bender I've had a pretty strong "live for the moment" mindset. Don't get me wrong; I love curiosity and I'm all for it. Just making sure he isn't stressing over the dwindling numbers at the same time.

as time goes on I think the numbers will increase with more aftermarket, retro parts and sheetmetal becoming available.

I've been pondering getting a 442 for a daily driver. I would love to know how many there are still left in the wild. I see a bunch on different sites for sale. It's a shame there wasn't some sort of registry for our cars. Now Olds and Pontiac are long gone. Sad really.
