I need a little advice on installing a fresh rebuilt 75 Pontiac 400 into a 84 Monte Carlo ss. I have the frame mounts, transmission adapter for 700r4 and header for 79 firebird. The problem ïm having is that the headers don't fit because it's hitting the frame of the car and I cannot find any headers available. Any advice on what headers fit or what could be done to make it fit thanks

I am thinking a fabrication shop. How much clearance do you need? Have you tried traditional and shorty headers?

Would headers for a 301 pontiac from a 78-80 era grand prix or regal fit? Can't recall matchup on 400 vs 301 heads.

Itd be an a body designation on the 78-80 but they did use the Pontiac v8s

I haven't tried the traditional or shorty headers yet.

Ain't nothing wrong with manifolds if that's all you can get to fit, but headers are always better.

I had a 69 GTO with a 400. I was forever jacking around with exhaust on that car. The exhaust ports point down and make it near impossible to get at. I unbolted the motor mounts and jacked the engine up, then worked through the fenders. Pretty much the only way to get close to them. Stupid design.
