I don't think the Firebird headers will fit, although not a lot of guys have went through the expense of buying and modifying them just to see. Here is a link from 301Garage where our own Shotgun (T1000 301) replies. http://www.301garage.com/forum/index.php?topic=1203.0 I agree with him that the 301 really doesn't need headers. Bigger stock manifolds like from a 455 will bolt up as will the cast iron Ram Air manifolds (expensive but so are headers). The best bet is freeing up the rest of the exhaust system, going to true duals and free flowing mufflers. When I first put the 301 in my '83 Bonnewagon, I did just that and I wasn't happy. I did not notice much of a difference in performance, and I did not like the added noise without power to back it up. I later went to a slightly larger single pipe stock set up from a 1978 Chevy 350. The 301 is a great everyday motor, but not for high performance. The 301 head has 3 bolt holes on the middle port but that does not prevent the 2 bolt manifolds from sealing. If you do a search on 301 Garage for "headers" you will find that the topic has been beaten to death and the consensus is that it is probably better to make your own, or severely modify Firebird units until they fit. But again, why bother? It's a 301.If you need more power, a Pontiac 350, 400, or 455 will transform your car into a monster.
