A buddy of mine bought a 79 w30 with t tops. It was a pretty rough car but could’ve been made into a decent driver. The other night he spun out and wrecked the rear of the car. I was thinking of buying it from him and parting it out. Unfortunately as rough as it was and now with the whole *ss being damaged it’s too far gone. I was just wondering how strong the market is for that year parts, engine/trans, shifter, console, gauges, wheels, and such. I was thinking of using the sway bars on my Malibu and maybe the rear since I still have the original v6 rear.

That's a shame. It's all worth saving if you don't mind dealing with the shipping hassle. Most of those parts haven't been available in decades. You won't get rich but you'll help out a lot of other guys' projects.

I'd buy the shifter if it's a dual gate (plus the console top plate and cable) if you don't mind it being undriveable, if it isn't already.

The top plate is partially missing as is the handle. It is a dual gate, but as I said the car is a bit rough.

The handle is no matter. I can make/find a top plate. Is the shifter (uh... Shaft?) still there? The chrome part. I can do PayPal if you'll part with it. And the cable plus the pan bracket.

I haven’t purchased the car just yet, I just looked at it yesterday. Hopefully I can get it for my price and I’ll get it by the end of the week. I will let you know.

I’m trying to figure out how close eBay asking prices are to what the parts are actually worth. The kid thinks the parts are worth a fortune.

IF the cars as rough as you described ,at 41 years old I doubt the parts are worth much. What is there thats SPECIAL thats not damaged by time ? Probably better to just scrap it after taking out anything that you could sell to a forum brother with a clear conscience.
