On my 78 Salon, I'm swapping out my flare fitting 605 box and power steering pump to 86 Monte Carlo SS fast ratio box and a reman O ring power steering pump also for 86 SS Monte. I noticed the Monte power steering pump pulley is larger diameter than the Salons. I'm planning on using the smaller diameter Salon pulley because I don't want to have to buy new longer belts. Is it going to make a difference on pulley diameter size? A smaller one will have it spinning faster. Is this going to be an issue?

If the smaller pulley on the Monte didn't cause the fluid on the Monte to overheat then I think you should be ok.

That's not the case. The Salon had the small Pulley not the Monte. I'm swapping to Monte box and power steering pump and want to know if there could be an issue with not using the larger diameter Monte pulley

then my answer basically remains the same, if it worked on one setup without an issues then it should work on the other.....

The pump you bought had a pulley on it already?
