My first question is why is the torque converter attached to the flexplate?

I thought it would be easier to put the torque converter on first and my wrong with that
Take it off the flexplate, it has to be engaged in the pump of the transmission before installing.
The other guys were joking about plug wires and pressure plate.

I had the engine built by Skip White Performance Engines
What size engine is this and was it a turn key (ready to run) engine?
