Problems with Hedmann headers on SBO

I run the stock starter with headers on my G body. I have used flowtech's in the past and was very happy, but they have cheanged their jigs or something because they are not the same as they used to be, they used to fit in the car, and they used to be compatable with a stock starter (why I switched to hedmann).

Yeah plenty of room for the stock starter on my car .... long oil filters are another story, but I'll relocate the filter (eventually).

i have a new set of flowtech long tube headers on mine with a stock starter tight fit but its in there they now have made there passenger side tubes with a acess hole for the filter no complaints with them yet

Thanks for the replies everyone. What oil filters is everyone using with these headers? We've got the original from the 87' Cutlass, and we've got one from the 403 so it's a matter of fitment at this point. The starter that we used was Summit's brand of mini starter for an Olds. Ours didn't need shims thankfully but we had to take a little material off the block and the starter housing but nothing a die grinder and a carbide bit can't fix 😀

I had problems with that Summit mini starter with Headman headers. No matter what way I clocked it, there was no way the headers would go on. I think I would have had to smash in over half the tube to make it fit.

Were you in the very top position? We had to slightly take some material off the block (sounds scary doesn't it?) and had to grind quite a bit off the ear on the starter but other than that it fits up there nicely, actually we trimmed it so at least it will come out nice and easy and isn't touching the block anywhere except the bolts themselves. The headers clear it with a breeze too.

The tube was hitting the actual body of the starter, not the part that bolts to the block.

I have hedman elite headers and have no problem with a mini starter which I can install with the headers already installed and I use a long Wix filter

i use a mobil 1 filter cant remember the part number but its only about 4 inches long
