Beltway & Veterans is on my way to work. Did you have them actually mix the code for you, and then put it in aerosol cans?? OR did you buy the color off the shelf??
Thanks Jared!
Sorry James! Just seeing this. I bought qaurts of Landau Black and low luster clear. They can definitely mix colors and I wouldn't be surprised if they can put it in a spray can for you. Looks like you decided on the OER anyway. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I like the way you do things James.

Hmmm...not sure.... is that a good thing or no?

I don't post a lot of the stuff I see, but thought that was unusual enough to share

Some of you who read my thread about the $25 Edelbrock cam & lifter deal, remember I was on the lookout for the next deal... Found it! 2 weeks ago I had seen an ad on FB for a pair of 1969 #5 Olds 350 heads 64cc ( increase compression from my lousy 80cc chambers on the original 403 heads ) listed for $200. They were completely disassembled, but all parts were included. They were original, and had never been rebuilt, or surfaced. Cool... but I needed to wait until I got paid again. I watched the ad for 2 weeks, and this morning I messaged him, and he still had them. I tried to get them for $100, but he wouldn't go for it. We agreed to meet in the middle at $150. I picked them up this afternoon. All parts were included, and he even gave me the head bolts. These will raise my compression from a meager 8.0:1, to about 9.0:1 ( to match the cam's recommended compression ratio ), depending on a couple variables. But I will have better flowing heads, smaller combustion chambers, and will use the larger valves from the 403 heads. Can't go wrong there! Building more power on a budget...

I probably won't use any of this stuff, but I have it if I need it. I have bagged & tagged it all.

Actually the 4A 403 heads have 84cc chambers, mine CC'd at 86. Those #5 will have 68 to 70CC untouched, a good boost. You can use the 1.995" 4A intake valves but the 4A exhaust valves are only 1.5" vs 1.56" on the #5 heads. This along with a restrictive port is why they suck so bad. I picked up a set of #6 heads with 2.05" intake valves, stock 1.56" valves, new guides, basic valve job, guide tops machined for positive seals,a nice addition, milled to 62 to 64cc and most importantly the bowls were opened under the valves with a cutter. He held them for 2 weeks with no payment on my word. I only paid $400! Decent people still exist, go figure. I disassembled them and found the bowl opened up as a bonus, he didn't think they were done. Most people put the W31 1.995"/1.625" valves in these heads, Rock Auto has replacement 1.625" at a good price. With just the bowls opened up with W31 valves, they flow 210/170 with just the bowls opened vs 190/120 for your stock 4A heads, plus around 9 to 1 with stock pistons vs 7.8 to 1 with stock heads. Stock replacement pistons sit way in the hole so they will lower compression and quench some. I had #8 heads on my 350 so the same gain in compression with .028" head gaskets with the same flow numbers as 4A's but #8 heads just need a bowl cutter to flow better on the exhaust side. Good score and good luck.

Yesterday was a good day. Some of you know I had been looking for a deal on a manual transmission. Found it! A guy about an hour from me had it listed on FB.
Here's the ad-

Used 4 speed borg Warner T10 Working good when I pulled a month ago 400 OBO

So it was cheaper than many others I had seen. Most were $550-750. I ran the AS3-T10V code on the ID tag. It came back a Corvette / F Body / A Body transmission. So I was definitely interested. I messaged him, and asked for a few more pics. He responded with these pics.

So as you can see it included a bell housing, but was obviously going to be a Chevy housing... I decided I could just hang on to that, as I have already sourced a BOP housing. At this point I asked for his location. He responded. I told him I would give him $300 for it. He accepted. Cool... So I thought I would have a usable transmission, and a BOP housing. But this deal gets even better...

When I arrived. he already had it on a dolly to help load, and to my surprise it was equipped with a clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing, pilot bushing, bell housing bolts, and... a Hurst Super Shifter w/ rod assembly!!! Sweet! We exchanged cash for parts, and after loading, we were talking about our projects. He was going LS/4L60e in his car, and that was the reason for selling the transmission. Then the deal gets even better... He askes me if I wanted his old carb, since he was going with fuel injection. I hadn't even seen it, but said "sure, if you're in the giving mood, I'll take it". Check it out.

Pretty clean.
IMG_0727.JPG

It's a 1977 800CFM unit, correct for a manual transmission, and re-manufactured 11/2012. It came with the bolts, and fuel inlet line. It was FREE. Thank You!!

Here's the transmission when I got it unloaded this morning.

Date code of 1969. That matches the ID tag that designates Vette / F Body / A Body years of production.

I will get it all cleaned up, and bagged. Couldn't be happier with this deal. I will need to buy a new shift lever, and knob. What do you guys think??
On to the next...
