It’s been kind of a long and crazy couple days, but I managed to sneak a couple hours in at the Skunkworks tonight.

The car and the repairs unmasked well the night after painting, so tonight I got after the wet sanding step. Very pleased to report that all that went extremely well here too. The new clear was knocked down with 1000 grit wet, then was guidecoated and gone over again with 2000 feathering it back into the original clearcoat.

Having no runs to contend with and very little dust in the clear, along with it being applied on an extremely flat and smooth surface definitely made the task a lot easier.

I’ll let the floor dry overnight, then polish everything back up to a high gloss again tomorrow. All in all, 3 extremely successful blends.

once again, truly amazing work.

sitting back and watching all this work, reminds me that you gave me the inspiration to get the roof rust repair on the Chief done, and now it's kinda given me the will to go ahead and keep him around for awhile and get the rest of the rust taken care of, and a repaint will probably be in his near future (looking at single stage, and being new to it, not sure if metallic will be in the cards or not... looking at low cost options now and pondering)

I realize your pics are showing the paint work, but I want to say it’s noticeable in that 1st pic how great the front bumper looks - that bumper finish is beyond unique and fitting with your car!

What’s even better is he did it on a shoestring budget. Oh wait , I’m wrong. 🙂 Still it came out amazing considering what he started with. To me the moonroof repair and straightening topic was totally off the chain making it better than GM would have ever thought. As a science project, I give it an A+++++++

All the pictures were taken from the same relative angle so that the finish and reflection could be seen in the light. It’s pretty hard to capture the surface finish with the lighting in the shop for y’all.

This wraps up all the blends on the passenger’s side, EXCEPT FOR the ones I have on the front fender. As stated before, I’m not real happy with how the fenders turned out so I’ll be completely redoing the white sections on both eventually. But not anytime soon, maybe next winter. I need a break from this stuff once the driver’s side is done.

I also completely re-polished the entire quarter, door and sail panel as well, just to make sure there were no missed spots or scuffs/swirls since I last did it.
I think it was worth the extra effort.

Driver’s side on deck next.

Does it ever snow in Alberta? I mean, technically, Calgary's in the Southern part. And we all know winters in the South aren't always terrible. They still make snow tires regardless, I'm sure. :)
