we all have projects that get put off. Doing spring cleaning this weekend & feeling sad that I never finished either drift trike project. Plan is to make the bedcover on elky have a 4 corner lift system to lift straight up & have room for the bike under the lifted cover.
Started on a basic drift trike project that was supposed to be quick & simple, then started over with a Suzuki 500 splat bike (wreck).making a springer front end after raking frame. Tank will need to be cut down, relocate pegs up front, Make brake setup . Stopped project in the middle of fabbing & designing swingarm & jackshaft setup. Plan to have a set of larger tires for nearby street driving & smaller slicks with plastic sleeves for drifting.

I feel ya got to swap the motor out the monte got the brake booster on the cutlass head gasket on my envoy but for now it's the cobalt and its engine cradle swap and front suspension, just got in the garage and ready to be lifted up and dismantled. Got a parts car that some kid cut the wiring out of to by pass an interlock but I fixed that too but so that's a bonus to keep an extra motor and trans. Nice that your back at it, never seen a drift trike got post more on that

I'd be interested in the Elky bed you're building. I'm starting to plan mine, but have no experience, just not finding anything commercial that I want.

Google drift trikes, they usually fit pvc sleeves over rear tires so they just slide around. Go cat rears. Not actually back at it, no time. Just cleaning up & need to move it out of the way. may have to finish a little more to roll it through the yard though. Raw steel parts just rusting on me. Here's pics from 2018.
Since last project posts, now figuring on some sort of powered telescopic posts for bedcover lift on elky cover, should look like a stealth fighter flying overhead, see pics of unattached cover on wet black primer.

I mentioned first starting on a smaller drift trike. Frame was looking cool, but wasn't happy with clutch choices for small gas engines & couldn't locate a small motorcycle engine, so just put the frame aside. Recently got out my 81 Honda cb750 custom, which I've owned since 1989 & haven't driven in years. Got it decently running & did an even trade for a 2006 drz125 trail bike. No speed monster, but nice & simple.
Plan is to start out doing what I'm not good at, which is keeping things simple & doing minimal amount of work making into a drift trike After using it a while , can later fancy it up in usual jl style.
Got bedcover mechanism roughly figured out. Will be a combination of parallelogram linkage which will get me a 3' lift but put the cover over 3' behind the truck, will combine with slide mechanism to go back forwards. Yea, it's complicated, but will allow me to carry the bike & keep all the coolness of the bedcover with me.

Love what you got going on looks fun when you got it ready. Also like the dirt bike last had one about 5 years ago, they had a track set up near the highway by Berthud CO and Loveland CO what a blast could spend the whole day out there

Got phase 1 of turning dirt bike into drift trike done this week & tried it out in driveway. At low speed you can keep it controlled & do a 180 or 360 i the width of a car's parking spot. Phase 2 is lowering seat height, which involves lowering rear suspension, cutting frame , air box, exhaust, making forward pegs & controls, etc, Mockup pictured is keeping seat original, but moving back & down to 19" sitting height.
