Being a post-1975 qjet, I see my spec is .420". This is what that looks like measuring from the back of the float.

The float has almost zero travel. What am I doing wrong? I'm bending at the V. I expected the top of the float to be levelish.

I like that method better, but same results. This is 12-13/32 which would put me in the .420" range.

Post the carb number and I will try and look it up. You need to remove the float to bend it properly.

Is that one of those '80's truck carbs? 1985? 454? Anyway, I know it is a headache, but you have to bend the float arm at the little "V" where it is weak. You have to "guestimate" how much and then test. A bit more- a bit less- until you get it right. By your pics it is not bent right. It should be kind of level, as you expected.

Yeah it's an 85ish truck carb. That is where I bent the thing, thinking I'll just get a new float and try again?

Not a CCC carb, but it does have a hump. I don't think the carb number jives with an 800 though?

Mine has the hump, but it also necks down like the 750 in the pic does at the bottom of the primary. I wonder if I'm not getting the clip seated for the float and thus giving it the odd angle?
