Thanks guys! So the consensus is, use one or the other...not both. I could understand it being restrictive running both. I'll probably start out using the carb inlet filter..

Steve, What are you using for a filter on your Q-jet?

I have an inline filter and an internal filter, no problems here. But yes, the internal filter with the ONE WAY check valve certainly prevents fuel draining from the carb, even if it's only off for an hour.

I was considering using both. I'll run it with the internal filter first. I can later cut the line and add the inline filter.

carb cleaner and compressed air.....the replacement filter is over $8 here in Ontario. I have one as a back up

Don't worry Donovan, I forgive you for building a chebby:). At least you used modern heads, something not out there with Olds 350 sized chambers and ports. Curious what intake did you use? Most Vortec intakes are square bore from what I have seen. I know the Vortec heads are crack prone but not as bad as the Dodge Magnum heads, I think. The Ram EQ heads which flow 233/188 cfm on the 5.9 in my Dakota are proof of the stock heads cracking.
