So friend of mine had blow thru e85 carb ,headers, and I found a gt45 turbo off market place. I had bunch of small block chevy stuff laying around to build a stock truck engine pretty much besides 1.6 Rollo rockas, the used cometic head gaskets ,about 80% of a sbc head stud kit .The idea is to learn about turbos on an engine thar don't matter if it blows up rather hurt an motor I got alot of money in. Started out with a 4 speed until it gave up the ghost but pretty dam fun yanking gears at 20 psi into the next gear. I had my th400 sitting there for the other car I'm building but I'm probably just going to build another fresh one for the other car . Everything is stock rebuild stuff cast replacement ,rings came out the box with .030 ring gap so that worked out well . Tuning the carb is definitely tricky but not as bad as people let on to be . So far it's up to 20 psi of boost it's pretty nice filling up with e85 out the pump. Ignition is stock hei with no weights locked down at 24 degrees yes I know this isn't proper way of doing things but works and for a stock small block that probably run 16s it's enough that It puts a a smile on you when the boost rolls in . So far it's made 11.80 pass @112 with a 2.04 60ft but I'm trying to figure out how to launch it with the tight *ss nitrous converter thar I had to use . Also been a good project to practice my tig welding get back into it.
