As a native Detroiter it feels good to see you all show so much respect and admiration for Aretha. Despite all the negative things people may say about Detroit, one thing you can count on is Detroit loving and coveting their own. To the world she was the Queen of Soul but to Detroit she is family. This was a tough loss for us in the Motor City but it makes me feel good to log on here and see you all pay homage to her and the work she's done.

Thank you G Body family!

Aaron,
Thank you for your eloquent words. I am, and have always been a Motown fan. Aretha was absolutely one of the greats. I'm glad, as a community, we were able to pay her due RESPECT and homage.
Again, she'll be sorely missed.

Funny thing with Aretha is she never put out a record with the Motown label but she was considered part of the Motown family. As far as Detroit not only Motown made the city famous but guys like Gordie Howe made Detriot a legend in those years.

Steve,
That's a fact that I never knew. I guess I assumed that she was under the Motown label given that she was from Detroit.
The old Motown studio is now a museum from what I understand.

Aaron,
That would've been my next question, if you had visited the Motown museum. But you pretty much answered that question. Thanks for the link.

Don't feel bad. As a native New Yorker, I've never been to the top of the Empire State building, the Statue of Liberty, and some of the various museums and landmarks.
