Radiator electric fan combos??

Is it worth the money to go with a good rad,shroud,and dual electric fans? I'm not going to be racing,just cruising. They seem to want $500.00 more for the shroud,fans and wiring over the cost of a good rad.

I guess it depends on what you have now for your cooling system and if it is overheating.
From what I have read about electric fan's is that they work better with the proper radiator,which seems to be aluminum,and not so well with the OEM style copper/brass radiator.
There is nothing wrong with a OEM rad,shroud and a mechanical fan clutch,although I have read that they may give up a few HP to an electric unit.
Personally,my 650 HP Big Block powered Monte SS has had a 4 core copper/brass rad,full shroud and fan clutch ever since I have owned it for going on 17 years now.It has never overheated,even on the hottest summer day,and if it gives up any power you would never know it when bouncing off the rev limiter at 7000 RPM and grabbing gears,LOL

I have a big Griffen aluminum radiator and the Intrepid dual fan set up and it cools my 565 BBC very well (overkill for most applications) but for my Regal I went the less expensive route going with a Champion 3 core aluminum radiator and eventually will install new Intrepid fans on that.
Champion radiator can cost $215 and fans around $72 both new and maybe cheaper if you shop around.

I had a Northern brand aluminum radiator and dual fans on the Cutlass for years and it NEVER ran hot! However, the generic GM measurements on the rad made the fill cap too tall to clear my new bolt on hood (worked fine with my old harwood lift off), so I sold the whole setup to a friend.
I will be installing a darn near identical setup but with a rad that has the angled fill cap to drop the overall height and clear the hood.
The overall depth works fine as 565 showed. In regards to losing HP going electric, I never noticed it with the healthy 355, and sure won't with the boosted LS.

Also, the electric fan setup just looks cleaner imo....

The Dodge Stratus fans move a lot of air and fit the rad almost perfect. My problem is controller's, most are garbage. I would run a quality, dual relay setup, which can get pricey. If the fans don't pull 40+ plus amps on high, don't by them. I would get the Champion 2 core with 1" tubes. The Griffin 1.25" dual core will out cool it but there has been leakage issues with their rads.

The electric fans are nice if you sit in traffic on hot days but I am still a believer in a quality thermo-fan clutch

I used to be but after 3 clutch failures I put electric fans on everything, now. I bought a car this morning with a clutching fan, I would not be typing this.

I would engineering a way to install electric fans.

If you watch any of the engine masters with a clutching fan, they don't ever run the fan behind a HOT!!!! radiator, Run a clutching fan behind a HOT radiator and then tell me how much power is lost, Freiburger.
