what cooling fan(s) are you using and do you have a shroud, also what does the temperature get up to and have you confirmed that is an accurate reading....

What fan or fans are you planning on running? I know Pagrunt had issues on his chevy with the stock fan shroud, it needed modification. As far a cooling, anyone with these rads has noticed a considerable drop in temps, 400 hp is a realistic number and are much less bulky and no doubt will allow more air past than a 4 core. I used a 2+ inch wider A body aluminum/plastic one core replacement, only needed to modify the bottom of the cradle and the driver's side mount would need modification to line up as it is now an inch further over. It works great with my low 200's hp 8 to 1 Olds 350 in my 88. The Olds 350 is easier to cool than the 403 or 455.

Is it the stock 307 5 blade? If so a 6 or 7 blade clutch fan off an earlier model or even the fixed 4 blade factory fan on non A/C models move more air.

Ok. What temps are you getting to? Hot on the highway or in town?

Sounds like a flow issue. Also make sure the rubber flaps around the rad are still there to direct air at speed. The 195 to 200 temp is very normal for a 195 thermostat. Mine ran 195 to 210 max with a 195 thermostat even with a new rad. Consider a 180 high flow thermostat if you want a lower driving temp. Mine temps are now 190 max, usually 175 to 180.
