In the throws of the 605 to 800 box~

Has anyone eliminated the rag joint buy using steering shaft from Dorman 425-294 95 Jeep grand Wagoneer? Current money is $90 delivered.

Besides going to the bone yard or spending hundreds, Is this a good option for the up grade?

Does this work? :

36" Polished Steering Shaft + 5/8"-36 Spline x 3/4" DD 1979+ GM Rack SS U Joint

Thanks!

I would not go this route assuming that shaft is not collapsible, I went with a Borgeson steering shaft and U-joints for my Monte since I can decide where the collapsible section will be to avoid clearance issues with the BBC headers.
I liked it so well that when I did my Regal I went with the same set up.
It is also easier to install because there is less resistance to collapse and extend it.

"93-95 Jeep Grand Cherokee steering shaft" is stated in this forums pinned parts to do the job ~

"Firstly, you need to spec a shaft from a 1994 or down Jeep Cherokee. Production changes post 1994 will not allow you to use those steering shafts."

Sorry, I've been all over the internet. & right here I have a contradiction.......

So why I asked the experts~ The grind doesn't make it a "drop in" but a grind I can do.

It matters or not grand or grand cherokee? 93 only for sure?

I've used both the Jeep shaft and the Astro shaft. The jeep shaft is 90% of the astro shaft as far as tightness, and quieter. the astro shaft transmits pump noise. If I ever fix my radio, then I wouldn't hear the pump noise lol....

So this is where I've gotten ~

Power Steering Shaft For Jeep Cherokee 1984-1994 XJ Omix-Ada 18016.05

It was an ebay seller listing usa product but actually offshore (had a delay & offered terrible customer service)

It dropped right in without any grinding.

The 800 box is in & I just need to hose her up & tighten the pitman.

Any input ~
