I've come around to the usefullness of a 4 door car, I never liked them before that though. Mine started off as my daily beater, I had a 79 cutlass 2 dr that I was in process of bringing back to life, but that car was too far gone to mess with since I had a rust free 4 dr sitting waiting for a new engine. I bought a 85 cutlass 2 dr (in good shape) as another attepmt to be rid of my 4 door, but I guess that never panned out correctly either. I had to chose between one or the other, I chose my 4 dr. The two extra doors make life sooo much easier in everyday scenarios, road trips, going out with friends, laundry, grocery shopping, etc, etc. True I do have way more invested into the car than it will ever be worth, but I don't plan on selling it, so who cares, I like it. Once I have the extra time and a better place to work on it, I plan on gutting the whole car and doing it over again (I'm not happy with how it looks). I get the comments from time to time (much less than I used to) about why am I wasting my time and money on it, I don't look at it as a waste if I enjoy it. There is a couple four door g body cars where I am, other than mine, one is a 78-80 cutlass (2 headlight system), and a 79 malibu. Both are decent drivers, from what I've seen of them, and they don't drive them in the winter  . Oh I forgot about the Regal 4 door that my gf's uncle has, tucked away and only takes it out on the nicest of days, beautiful original car (it's a diesel, lol).

hey I had an 80 4dr. Same single headlight look. Still do. Its more for parts now though. Wasnt anything to look at but it was decently fast with the 305 in it. I drove it till the frost plug fell out of it and it stopped moving. In a heartbeat I'd drive a 4 dr again. Heck I drive an 80 4 dr chevy truck now.

oh i thought we were talking about the cutlass 4 doors which i dont like the look

there are still plenty of 4 doors that i do like and have no problems with most of which came after the 80's and 90's. i drive an 01 bonneville ssei and i think it looks badass with 4 doors.

I mean the two doors are more sporty...but from a laymans perspective theres nothing sporty about a g body car in the first place. and on the value thing. Although im sure there is a difference in price. Gbody cars are really cheap anyway. you can get a nice low 13 car in indy for 2800 or so. And there is that one "sleeper" 4 door on this forum that is easily the most badass car there is
whom is this sleeper?

For me the biggest issue with the 4dr Cutlass is that it's proportions just don't look correct compared to the 2dr cars. It's obvious GM designed the G-body has a 2 door car and the 4dr was some sort of afterthought. At least that's how it looks anyway.

And it's not just the G-bodies. Look at some of the modern GM vehicles out there. You can almost peg the ones that were designed originally as a 2dr and then they threw in a 4dr just because.

The Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5 come to mind.

And come on guys, he has a 4dr Cutlass, it doesn't look like a Caprice! If anything it would be closer to a Delta 88! 😉

I think that's what bother's me about the 4dr Cutlass. It just looks like a Delta 88 that got smooshed.

Of course I think the Delta's look 10 times better in just 2drs instead of 4. But those doors end up HEAVY! The doors on my dad's '74 Delta 88 Royale probably way as much as a modern Prius.

I love the 4DR G-Bodies. I bought this one, a 1981, for $370. I put on an '83 front end because I never like the pushed in single headlight front although I do see some cars that it looks good on. Plus I like the cop car quad headlight look:

Although it is too loud, IMO it is still a wicked sleeper.

It's mine, "The Grey Ghost".
