Hey everyone. I’m at the final stages of finally getting my body back on the chassis and the last thing I’ve noticed is it appears that the position 6(behind the rear tires) rotted out and the hole enlarged. I suspect this was caused by the old bushings sitting in those holes for all those years. The metal around the holes are solid though which is good. I’m trying to figure out what to do here and wanted to see if anyone has run into the same issue and what did you do. I fabricated a piece out of 0.025” thick steel that I was thinking of welding over the hole and area, then punching out a new center while. The issue with that is I’m worried of welding steel over the original metal Which would add a additional 0.025in of height. Would that throw off the body alignment? Also know that I am not the best welder so I’m not confident in my ability to cut out the origainal metal and cut and weld in a new piece flush. Just trying to find a quick and easy way of repairing this. I have added some pics.
