I have a 78 malibu with 7.5” 10 bolt rear which I have elected to convert to disc brakes. I am the disc brake conversion kit with the bracket that goes behind the axle (have to pull axles) then the caliper bracket bolts to this.

The caliper brackets are threadded 7/16-20 and the slide pin is 7/16-20 thread however the smooth portion of the pin is too big around to slide through the bracket. I am at a loss here. Has anyone run into this?

That should go through. How did you determine the thread in the caliper bracket?

This has been resolved. I used a bolt to determine thread. Bought new slide pins and everything slid together.

Should your shocks be rubbing on the spring like that?

I have everything installed but nothing adjusted nor do I have limiters. What you see here is since my spring height adjusters are all the way at the bottom. When the rear axle is hanging, the springs have no tension and they are basically flopping around or fallen out of their pockets. If the axle is raised or spring height adjusters moved up, the spring will be captured. Good catch!
