:doh:Now I've got to port and polish my decorative rear end cover . . . I'm NEVER going to get this thing back together!

Perhaps a tad of restriction over it being cast rather than sheet metal? That does it . . . it's getting polished before it goes on!

You did what? You polished the "inside" of your rear end cover? Yup, took a second and a half off my track time . . .

OK . . .o_O

Though I openly acknowledged I was putting my "decorative" cover on when I discovered all the filings in my fluid which started the rebuild so I was not doing it for any type of performance reasons, I can't see a whole lot of fluid work being done where the ring gear is spinning over using my Trickflow cover.

That said, I do have that LPW bracket and bracing I can bolt to it triangulated up to the axle tubes on each side if I decide I am having too much fore/aft axle tube deflection . . . (y)

 I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to decide that yet . . .

I went 10.50's with a stock rear end cover. Unless you are seeing signs of movement in anything I wouldn't worry about it. Eventually the bearing caps start to flex and a cap girdle like the LPW is a good idea.

I just wanted to point out one small flaw in the videos. Perhaps things have changed since my truck was built, but I don't see why it would- In my 1995 F-150, and this is verified by the Factory Service Manuals, that reluctor ring on the ring gear activates the sensor for the anti-lock brake system, not the speedometer. The speedometer sensor is in the tail shaft of the transmission, as it is in every vehicle I've ever owned or worked on.

Naturally, this has no real impact on the point of the video.
