Is there a technique/method to removing the the rear seat cushion on an 80 Malibu Coupe? If so, let me know how to get the seat portion out.

Typically you pull upwards with a gentle tug on the lower rear portion, in the center where the middle passenger would sit. Once it's in the air a few inches you push the front edge backwards.

The wire frame of the cushion drops into a "C" shaped opening with the open part facing upwards, then slides forward into a holding position if that makes sense? So what you're doing is loosening that part and the lifting it out of the little floor bracket.

The seat back is more involved. You need a torx head bit and actually remove the corner seatbelts because the bolts hold both them and the seat.

Once it's loose it has the same bracket setup except this time vertical. So again. gentle tugs as to not bend the wire frame.

Thank you so much. The rear cushion came out like you instructed.

Mine was bolted down with these metal bars connected to the back of the seat.

I want to remove the rear seat back to mount Mike's Montes rear seat body brace. It appears that this thread discusses removing the cushion, and not the seat back. Couldn't find any videos. Are they separate parts? Any hints on removing the seat back?

Edit: seems the rear seat top part will come out when un-bolting the seatbelt retractor.
