The rear view mirror broke off the windshield and took a chunk of the glass with it. The (broke off piece of windshield) glass is still attached to the mirror base.
Any ideas on how to remount/glue the mirror to the windshield?

Probably time for a new windshield.

In the meantime you could remove the metal mount from the rear view and clean it with a razor blade (just as if you were going to remount it), but leave the hunk of glass where it is. Follow the instructions for the windshield mount kit, but coat the glass hunk as well and the divot in the windshield and remount - press to set - leave it for an hour - see if it holds. Since the glass chip is glued below the mount, you'll never see it. If it doesn't work you're only back where you started less the price of the Mirror mount kit.

Worth a shot.

Thanks, that sounds like a plan.

Had an old F100 years ago that had that happen. Cheesy as it sounds, I reattached it by filling the "pit" in the windshield with JB Weld and sticking the tab with glass still on it back into the pit and taped it in place. Next day, remounted the mirror, drove it for 4 years after that with no issues.

Doesn't sound cheesy to me. Sounds like a repair. Otherwise, it's time for a new windshield.

I'm definitely going to try the epoxy method.
Would Crazy Glue work?
The only reason is because it is clear.
