I'm looking for an auto carrier to transport my '83 Regal wagon from Knoxville, Tennessee to Northern California. I've received a few quotes, and most seem to be in the $1,000 to $1,500 for open transport. It seems like most of the companies are brokers that contract with independent truckers. That doesn't necessarily concern me (unless it should). Do any of you guys have any experience with this in term of who you've had positive experiences dealing with, and conversely, negative experiences, and companies you'd avoid? Thanks in advance.

I paid that much to go from Pigeon Forge, TN to New Mexico about 5 years ago. The expensive part was how far off of a main Interstate is the pickup and delivery.

I sold a car to a buyer clear cross country. The buyer hired a moving company to transport it as they only had a 2/3 load of furniture inside their 40 foot trailer. Many movers are eager to fill their trailers on return trips when they are not full. He used a broker to find them.

Texas82GP, do you know if that number you listed for Jeffrey Recht is a cell? Since it's past 10 on the east coast now, I don't want to call him until tomorrow, but if it's a cell, I can start a conversation by text.

Sorry man, I had tuned out. Pretty sure it's a cell.
