Guys, I have a digital dash cluster only in a box up in the attic. I stripped a Regal in the 90s and it worked then. I kinda was thinking about putting it in my 79 Century. I only have the cluster. What else is needed? Will this even work without an ECM? If it's more trouble than it's worth, I may go ahead and sell it to a member if theirs is bad. If I remember it was an 84 Limited. It had the touch tone climate control as well but sold all that years ago. Has anyone done a successful swap from analog to digital?

Digital cluster requires swapping the dash harness out (as would the climate control). Climate control also needs additional wiring to the climate box swapped out and sensor relays swapped in the climate box. (Easier to swap climate box, dash harness, climate harness, and cluster all at once.)

My GUESS is there may be functions controlled by the ecm, but, never tried to delete the ecm from a digital dash car. Usually they were pretty highly optioned so either I parted them out and it didn't matter, or I fixed them stock and functional for best sale price. Even deleting the CCC carb on an entire swap I just bagged the pigtails I didn't need, but left the ecm in the kick panel.

The dash carrier and trim plate will be different than your 79 Century, also the digital clusters use a different fuel sending unit in the tank than analog ones. And as previously mentioned the entire dash harness is different.
