I found a T Type with t-tops. The Car has been stripped some. It's missing the following: turbo hood, front seats/console, engine/trans. it does have a posi and no rust, the paint is wasted but the body is straight. no rust around the t-tops, frame or floors. the rear bumper fillers are gone, no title currently, however, after doing some research i should be able to get that done quickly.

This might be a car i restore to its former turbo'd glory or may just LS it (possibly turbo, later on). i think i can get it cheap enough ($300-450) to make it a do-able project. i'll post pictures later.

My question is, at what point do i just decide to walk away.. i mean there isn't anything different (minus the interior/hood) that i wouldn't change about a regular regal non turbo. example-- engine/trans swap, fillers, paint etc.. and at this price, i could part the body or junk the car and just about come even.

i'm up to the challenge for the resto.. what would you guys do?

thanks ahead of time

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

Its up to you. The car doesn't sound too bad, and the price sounds right. As it was originally equipped with fuel injection, it would be a good candidate for just about any kind of FI swap, or restoration, depending on your tastes and budget. The cosmetic stuff shouldn't be too hard to find, and reproduction parts are starting to come out now. To me, it would be a shame to part out a good solid base for an interesting project. I'd say buy it, and fix it up. Drivetrain is up to your discretion.

Being a true T-type with T-tops Vin makes it worth more than a std regal generally, but not by much.

Depending on the year it might be rarer than the GN.. I have an numbers matching 84 Type-T & while its not a GN, its still worth more than any N/A Regal in any trim.. There's a guy in this forum who's parting out an 87 so if you can find the thread you might be able to get a lot of parts for cheap..

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

500 for a rolling chassis with no damage and no rust is a steal even if it is a regular base regal. These bodies are only getting harder to find. There are plenty of g-body cars out there that can donate parts to a good car that are just rusting away or crashed up. t-tops or not, definitely worth it even if just to hold onto and flip. Think about how much people will pay for a chevelle or cutlass etc. in just ok enough condition.

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

Sounds like a good deal.

Where in Kansas are you located?

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

Thank you guys, I'm finding this car could be quite rare given its year. I'm going to go look at the car tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find.

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

it should be an 8.5" rear and if its a posi and in decent shape its worth more than the price of the car
good luck

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

It will have the 8.5 if its a 84 or newer.

is there a database or registry that i can find out what the exact production #'s of certain options for certain years? i've been doing some research but i'm not coming up with much.

thank you,
