Sounds like a good deal to me....What year is it?

1983.. i guess something like only 3700+ turbo regals rolled off the line that year, and there were no GN in '83. and from what i can pick up T Tops were a dealer option?

Sounds like a good deal.
Where in Kansas are you located?

in the Topeka area, i see you're from Wichita. I have some family there.

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It?

Sounds like it could be a good project but I wouldnt worry about the value as a T-type as the 83's were carb'd and it wont have the 8.5 in rear so as it is value wouldnt be really any more than a N/A regal IMO. And T-tops could be either factory or dealer (aftermarket) installed. If its an ''aftermarket'' conversion they arent worth the hassle since none of the factory parts fit and I know of nowhere to get replacement parts such as weather stripping or god forbid you would need a replacement glass panel.

Re: Regal T Type--Worth It? Now w/Pics

i'm not too concerned with the value as far as being flipped since it doesn't have any of the original parts.. if i get the car i'd like to go to with a 86-87 set up or turbo ls.. t-tops are factory but i know of several places to get trim ect.. also on CL i've found quite a few ppl selling t-tops.

i guess the real question is, how far gone should i be willing to go for a G Body.. they're aren't worth buku-bucks yet and this one won't hold the same value since it won't be original. i also found it will need new ignition plunger, trunk lock etc.. i would definitely like feedback

It looks like a good starting point for a project especially if you can get it for 500 or less, although I would make sure you can get a clean title in your name before commiting. The tops are factory wich is a huge plus since most all replacement parts are readily obtainable. Be prepared to drop a lot of cash for a 86-87 turbo drivetrain, like 2 to 4 k for motor trans and rear plus all the other stuff needed such as wiring fuel tank w/sender and pump. I also see it has touch climate control wich is kinda a rare option. I personaly would put a 85 turbo drivetrain in it (since I have a complete 85 T-type thats beyond saving due to rust) But thats just one persons opinion. Keep us posted.

I would buy it only if I was willing to take on a major project or was planning to part it out (also a big project). If I was serious about buying another Turbo Regal I would stick to 84 and newer and would buy as much car as possible only because I don't need another project.

That 83' has a lot of potential and the price is very fair but you need to consider the time and money needed to "restore to it's former glory" if that is your goal. In my area, G body Regals are hard to find in the salvage yards.......something else to consider.

i'm prepared to spend what i need to, to get the cars drivetrain together along with the tank/pump/etc.. i also have a 400 motor i'm just about done with that can go into the car for now. i'm interested in the 85 (or its drivetrain) if its for sale.

besides it being an original carb'd car, why 84 or newer, since this doesn't have the drivetrain begin with. it seems like a regal is getting parted almost bi-weekly around here. good news is i don't need body parts, just the hood. bumper fillers are online now so thats a relief.

thank you, I've been on these forums for awhile. thats why i think the ls route is viable, not only for this car but gbodies in general. i can't help but be excited when i see threads like these. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/thread ... on.364382/
just the fact that you can make that kind of power with a $250 junkyard motor, and $5k to get it all hooked up. even if you had to spend another 3k on fittings and the harness' you'll but about the same getting a motor built to do 750hp N/A and that was only using 18-20psi. they got 630hp on 15psi no problem

Don't let me discourage you. If you have the time, skills and money necessary to pull it off it is a good value regardless of model year. I prefer 84 and newer T types because the front facias and grills look better than the older models, the IP's, interior aesthetics and wiring is better (factory radio, gauge package, chimes, etc), They came with 8.5" rears and are set up for fuel injection already.
