Just starting out with my project 86 cutlass supreme 307. My problem is car is running super rich. This is my first quadrajet I've worked with and its computer controlled. The previous owner has vacuum lines everywhere which r either cap off with screws or just left unhooked. The choke on the carb doesn't work, don't know where all these vacuum lines go and don't know what else may not work or missing either for the computer to run the carb right. So my question is what would be the best an most cost effective way to go about this. Get me a rebuilt cc carb and find where the major vacuum lines need to be put to( having a tough time finding this being I want to get rid of emission stuff), find a non cc quadrajet, or put an edelbrock/holley on it. I don't need emissions anymore so I would like to bypass some of this stuff and clean it up a bit. Thanks for any help.

you'll need a non ccc distributor which can cost a lot if you get oem but if you want to get a no name brand (which i have and it works fine) with vacumn advance you can make it all work and your tune-ability will be much better. i felt it was well worth doing but its all your choice

The most cost effective way to fix the car is to get a factory Chassis Service Manual and put the car back to stock. The CCC system takes some effort to understand and to adjust properly. The CSM details the procedure, which must be followed EXACTLY to get it to run right. Once you do, the system works quite well. The problem is that few people have the patience to do the job properly.

Agree with Joe to get the manual and retrofit everything back to working order. The factory put all that stuff there for good reason and it will run poorly without it intact. Getting a pre-CCC carb is a crapshoot unless you are fluent in carb jetting and tuning. The odds of finding an old carb that is correct for your 307 is slim since there were none offered to baseline against. A Chevy or Olds 350 had plenty of model years before CCC so they are easy to backfit.

Guess I got some work to do. Can't wait till I finish saving for a bigger motor. Thank you for your help!
