CUTLASS roller lifters in a flat cam block

You can install a retro-fit hydraulic roller cam and lifters in a non roller block, IMO it is worth the extra expense since it solves the issues with flat tappet break in procedures, reduces friction on the cam, typically makes more power than a comparable flat tappet cam and does not require the extra additives in oil to survive.

Morel roller lifters for an Olds are about $350 through cutlassefi, Mark Remmel. Don't bother with the 307 stickers. Yes, it can be done.

Side rant: the Chinese cam cores these days will wipe a lobe in the blink of an eye. Additionally, the zinc/phosphorus content in the oil isn't there anymore.
