I have a question about the heat riser on my 305 86 GP. the rod/spring/counterwieght and anything else that was connected to it was gone when I bought the car but I never bothered with it till now that it's rattling around loose. I'd like to tie it open, is it correct to assume when the piece that connects to the rod is furthest away from the front of the car, its open, and when it would be closest, that would be when theres vacuum applied and it would be holding it closed? I've tied it up both ways and right in the middle but i keep hearing a puffing noise coming out the exhaust so im not sure whats going on in there. Thx
