hello guys, I am redoing my interior on my 79 carlo and trying to get some info on how to remove the seat belt from the trim panel. I have it un screwed but stumped on how to get the belt out without cutting it. any tips greatly appreciated thanks.

I assume you're talking about the male part of the buckle through the rear 1/4 trim panel? When I removed mine I just played around with the angle and used a bit of muscle and it ended up popping through without breaking anything. If anyone else has any other insight I'd be glad to hear it, pretty soon my car will be back and I'll be putting the interior back together.

To the original poster...do you have the seat belt unbolted from the floor and rear pillar trim? You will need to do that first and then as Ian said get the correct angle fitting the pieces through the slot in the rear panel. I've found that fitting one piece at a time works the best.

I have the bench style seat belts attached to the top pillar and to the quarter panel. The seat belts dont attach to the floor.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Here's a pic of a pair of shoulder belts...

The piece circled in yellow is attached to the inner quarter panel and behind the lower trim piece. The piece circled in blue is bolted to the upper pillar and is covered with a plastic trim piece. The part circled in red is bolted to the floor just behind/beside the seat. The piece in red and blue along with the metal buckle is what you need to fit through the slot.
