Sorry, newbie here. I found a local G-body graveyard. Tons of good parts. He had a upper and lower seat for a regal, not sure the year. I’m curious as to whether or not it would fit my ‘86 Monte. He said it should fit. But want to be certain before buying/installing. Thanks in advance, and sorry for lacking the knowledge on my g-body cars. 😋

Your question lacks details, but I'll toss a few facts your way. Most GM bucket seats used the same four-bolt pattern to bolt to the tracks that slide front-back until probably the late 1990s. Definitely could swap any Gbody brand seats. Be aware that you need two pairs of tracks, where the solid bench had one set. The hard part when you diverge from GM is going to be the seat height and fabbing adapters. Do a search on the forum for seat tracks. There was a recent thread that will tell you what you need to look for.

Sorry for the lack of details. My front seats are in really good condition (thanks to my brother putting seat covers on before storing it). But the rear seat is faded. That’s the seat I’m looking to replace. The upper is faded nicely and the bottom is worn some. So the question pertains to only the rear seats for Gbody cars. Thanks!

Then you are restricted to our generation back seats. Might be easier to look into new covers to match the originals.

Aha! In future posts, please ask the actual question. For the rear seat, the hard part will be matching the upholstery. If your cushions are in good shape, you could approach an upholstery shop about making a new cover. I suggest the 1000-word picture that will instantly tell us color, style, condition. There are vendors that sell upholstery kits for $300-$600, but usually wont split just the seat; that said, it you buy the whole kit, all will match. And - if your color is common enough, and you have buckets, you may be able to remarket the front seat covers to someone else on a tight budget and offset your cost.

I’ve will get pics from now on. Thanks for the advice. Still new, so thanks for taking it easy on me. This is a good forum. Gbody cars are badass. Seems like the people that respect the cars are really cool too.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon. I have an 86 Monte Carlo SS myself. The folks on this forum are really knowledgeable and helpful.
Thanks! They’ve been great so far. Seems like a niche car to be into. Don’t get all the love they deserve.

For some reason the 86 SS is treated like the red headed step child. They almost all look the same from 83 to 86. The 87 seems to be the hot one. Dont get it. And the 86 had all the new improvements. Overdrive transmission, a little higher output engine. Love mine. 22,700 original miles. Never will sell her.
