I have a factory installed Hurst shifter that came out of a '78 Cutlass, that I want to use in my '80 Malibu. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the lever from the shifter body. It looks like the lever locks into the shifter body, similiar to the O.E. ITM shifter. Is there a special tool required to release the lever from the shifter body? Do you need some kind of feeler gauge type tool to slide in on both sides to release the lever? Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
