Shifter

I'm installing a new shifter slider and this part fell down I'm not sure were it goes or how it is installed ? Any ideas ? It's that u shaped piece in the middle.

long side runs up in handle , short side go into shift gate. should be a spring that goes across the botton of it from front to back to hold it up and engage the shift gate

spin it 90 degrees clockwise

can not find the SS shifter, but a better view of a similar shifter

Right ? Looks like I'm missing the spring can I just use any spring ?

no still need to turn it 90 degrees, it is at 6 o'clock now, push it down and turn it to the 9 o'clock position, there is a hole it will fit into, i see the spring there
