Thoughts on hoists? I had a 9k Benwill in the old shop but had to leave it behind. I really liked it. My dad has a 7k Chinese one that I'm not really impressed with. I'm looking for something in the 10-12k range. Suggestions and or cautions?

I like what I'm hearing. Probably won't Ike the price tag. Am kicking around the idea of a heated foundation slab for the forever house too.
Just put the pex in the slab now, because you can't do it later! Even if you can't afford the rest of the system now. Cost of PEX for the slab shouldn't be too bad

If you're doing in slab heat, make sure to measure out where the posts for the lift will go and leave enough room for error. Hate to have to cut into new concrete to fix a leak because you drilled into the pex. When we did my buddies shop we left 3' squares for each post open and had very good measurements so we knew we'd be safe drilling for the anchors.

No in slab heat. They pour 3'x2' footers where the posts are under a 6" slab.

I’ve got one of these. I keep the shop at 55 unless I’m in it, then 65. Costs about $30-40 per month for gas. I love it, I can lay on the floor in a t shirt and shorts in the dead of winter, and recovers temp quickly when the doors opened up.
