I met with the builder yesterday and we got more specific. Quote was for 36' x 48' x 13'6" with 1.5" insulation, 6" floor with 2' x 3' footers under the hoist feet. He'll stub the bathroom plumbing for me to finish later and trench and bury conduit from my existing meter on the pole to the panel inside. Basic electrical outlets and wiring for lights. 12 x 12 insulated roll-up door and man door. 12 x 36 lean-to cover on the north end with compacted road mix base. $41.5 was the all-in number including all permits. He said about 12 days to complete.
So roughly 72k? I guess that's not bad if you just write the check.

I'll let you do it if you can beat his quote and be done a month from now.

Damn... some of you guys need a son.

I'm available. Already grown, don't have to worry about college, don't eat much, won't see me outside the garage a whole lot, have my own tools, know how to clean up after myself..

:D

Added 30 foot to my 22x24 garage so new size is 22x54 and it's full I just don't remember having all this stuff in the old garage but oh well.
My buddy and I built it and the only thing we didn't do was the concrete work
I might have 15k into it

Still need to insulate and figure something out for walls. But after that it's time to get on summit racing

Definitely consider insulation under the slab and up the entire perimeter to grade level. I knew the importance of this living in Iowa, but let the contractor talk me out of it when I built in TN. Getting ready to build a bigger garage this year so I appreciate all the good comments here.

Insulating under the slab wasn't even discussed. We really don't get cold and stay cold compared to the midwest.
The insulation we talked about for the walls goes between the framing and the tin sheeting. His recommendation was 1 1/2" there and then possibly OSB sheeting the inside to create an air pocket. He claims that works pretty good.

You just had to start this thread. Now I have to finish my blueprints.

This is where I try to work. Yea, that little area under the deck.

At least when the shop goes in under the deck I'll have plenty of room for a hoist!
