what other gm cars can I use the side view mirrors from on a 81 Malibu. I have the single chrome driver mirror and it seems impossible to find a matching passanger and I really don't care for the sport mirrors. what other gm vehicles will fit with out having to fill the holes to do a custom setup?

Why not just put the word out there for a matching passenger side mirror. I think that would be the way to go.

I'll be using vintage '67 Chevy mirrors on my car. The only problem with those is that they're both manually operated...no remote cables.

I actually cannot even find a picture of a 78-87 with remote chrome mirrors on both sides. all I ever see is is driver side only. if I am trying to avoid having to close up the holes and do a bunch of unneeded bodywork if possible. was hoping maybe something from a caprice or impala might fit but would like to know before spending a wad of cash to have them not fit.

if I have to go custom route I will end up with 65 style mirrors.the older mirrors have a long thin mount that will not cover the holes currently in the door.

In my case I welded up the holes on both doors knowing that I wasn't going back to the OE style mirrors.
This is what you need from this Malibu plain wrapper police car. I originally had the driver side chrome mirror on my before going with sport mirrors. The right side chrome mirrors are not that common, though.

yeah mine is way different then that one. beefier base and mirror housing. mine is also cable controlled. it is a cool looking mirror though.i will snap a pic of the mirror over the weekend.

I think I know which mirror you are talking about. I will wait for the pic. I think I'll have access to a RH side one. I think I will also have access to a set of the chrome manual mirrors like Jack posted.

I think I've actually seen those mirrors on '80's B-body Buicks and Oldsmobiles. They're almost similar to the ones on the Malibu cop car, but of course the bases are different and they seem to have more of a shroud or hooded area around the mirror face itself.
Not a bad looking mirror.
